With the holidays approaching, I've been thinking about winter vacations. Since our winters are pretty mild --AKA no snow-- I seek out destinations with lots of the powdery white stuff. There's something magical about snow, and as far back as I can remember, I've wanted to learn how to ski. In the U.S., our popular ski destinations are Park City, Stowe, Vail and Aspen. While I would love to check out these resorts, there's an another country I would love to visit for a holiday ski getaway-- France!
Ski holidays in France are quite popular for Europeans, but not so much for Americans. Perhaps it the distance we have to travel to get there! Even so, I've always wanted to visit France, and I can't think of a more beautiful time than winter...well, I wouldn't pass up springtime, summer or fall either 😉
The thing about skiing in France is that you have the French Alps. Just to say, "I've skied the French Alps", is reason enough to want to make the trek across the pond. Even if I find out that skiing is not for me, there is still a million things to see and do in France. I just love the quaint and charming villages with chalets and funiculars. ...oh, how a girl can dream.
For now, a ski holiday in France is only a dream, but it's not one that I am going to give up on. I think I should at least visit some of the ski resorts in my country first-- and actually learn how to ski-- before making an escape to the French Alps 🙂
