One of the conveniences of staying in Beech Mountain, NC is all of the dining options available within close proximity to the ski resort. During my recent visit I had the opportunity to sample some of the dining in Beech Mountain, from fine cuisine to quick bites. Here are three of my favorite places to eat:
Jackelope’s View ($$$) – By far the best meal I had in Beech Mountain was at Jackelope’s View in Banner Elk at Archer's Inn. This fine dining restaurant is a little further down the mountain than others, but the quality of the food is worth it! The menu changes seasonally, but I enjoyed a succulent bone-in pork chop with a blue cheese crust and a side of killer mashed potatoes. My daughter had an appetizer of chicken wings for her meal, and we both agreed that they were the best crispy wings we’ve ever had. Prices aren't outrageous, especially since this is a resort town. My entrée was a mere $18 and my daughter’s wings were $9 -- Small prices for fantastic service and delicious food.
Famous Brick Oven Pizzeria ($$) – Skiing can really work up an appetite, and sometimes nothing quite satisfies like pizza. Famous Brick Oven is a fun spot for the whole family to enjoy fresh made pizza, wings, burgers and salads. My daughter and I shared a whole pepperoni and mushroom pizza (pizzas start at $11.95) with enough left over to take back to Pinnacle Resort, where we were staying. I have to tell you, I've had a lot of pizza in my days (who hasn't!?), and the pizza here is some of the best. The crust is TO DIE FOR, AMAZING. It’s soft and puffy, and you’ll find that it’s hard to stop eating. On your way out, don’t forget to pick up a few homemade donuts to-go.
Famous Fast Eddie’s ($) – For a quick bite, Famous Fast Eddie’s really satisfies with his Chicago-style hot dogs. I’ve had a Chicago dog straight from the source, and I can honestly say this is about as authentic as it gets. Eddie serves only Vienna products with most of the toppings flown in from Chicago. Of course, if you’re not a fan of the Chicago dog, Fast Eddie’s can dress your hot dog or sausage to your liking. Famous Fast Eddies is located conveniently at the entrance to the ski resort and hog dogs are only $3 – cheap eats before or after a day on the slopes!
