Must-See Attractions in Sydney
The Sydney Opera House
OK, so top of the list is obviously going to be the Sydney Opera House. Also, you could add Sydney Harbour as you cannot head to the opera house and miss it! The Sydney Opera House stands head and shoulders above every other icon in the country, and it is perhaps Australia's most famous man-made icon worldwide. The opera house is an incredible feat of architectural design and engineering that adds a huge amount of character to Sydney Harbour. This is an amazing building that hosts over 1,500 performances and seats the 1.2 million people each year who flock to see the talent and skill of people invited to perform at the Sydney Opera House. It can be found on Bennelong Point of the Northeastern tip of the Sydney CBD, and surrounded by the harbour. The sight of the opera house is a mainstay in pictures and postcards for tourists - along with the Sydney Harbour Bridge - both of which usually combined to provide an overall slice of the Sydney Harbour, and indeed Australia.
Sydney Botanic Gardens
Enjoy the stunning natural beauty of the Sydney Botanical Gardens right near the Sydney CBD as you explore the lush greenery and beautiful floral walkways. Home to birdlife and butterflies, this is the perfect spot for an afternoon picnic or a jaunt around after a big lunch!
Jenolan Caves
This isn’t actually in Sydney itself but it’s a hugely interesting activity to get involved with. Composed of a heady mix of 11 caves and rock formations, they can be reached with a 2.5 hour drive from Sydney and are really worth the trip. Enjoy a slice of real nature to contrast the hullaballoo of Sydney’s urban centre.
Bondi Beach
No list of Sydney sights would be complete without a mention of Bondi! Take a stroll down the sandy beaches and enjoy the atmosphere at being so close to the urban centre of Sydney, but also on the beach at the same time! It’s the perfect spot for an early morning jog or a late afternoon picnic.
No matter what piques your interest in Sydney you’re sure to find something that you love.
